Rick was born and raised next to the Douglass & Zook Mortuary. He graduated from Monrovia High School in 1971 and later Citrus College. After working several years overseas for the Ralph M. Parson's Company, Rick returned to his family's business in 1984, to work side-by-side with his parents, Robert & Elsie Zook (who retired in 1992), his wife, Maria, and his brother, Greg Zook. Rick helps to maintain the high standards and personal care provided by the Douglass & Zook Mortuary. He also is an active member of the Monrovia/Duarte/Arcadia communities, where he is a member and past "Kiwanian of Year" with the Kiwanis Club, and the past President and current Secretary for the Mary B. Thorne Club which annually supports Monrovia High School graduates.
