Locations - Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance Funeral Home

In 1952, Robert and Elsie Zook became the owners of the "Douglass & Bradford Mortuary," with the moral, physical and financial support of Bob’s parents, Vern and Geneva Zook. At that time, the mortuary had been located at Myrtle and Lime Avenues and been established under the name of Renaker Mortuary in 1890. Later that year, Phillip F. Douglass became Bob;s partner, thus becoming Douglass & Zook Mortuary.

Together they completed our present beautiful building in 1954 which became a landmark in the community. In 1961, Phil retired from the business, but through the Zook family’s community involvement and their dedication to the families they have served, the business steadily grew. The Zook family and their staff continue to whole heartedly support community affairs, including the Kiwanis Club of Monrovia, Monrovia Elks Lodge, PEO Chapter BI, Monrovia Chapter of the Children’s Hospital Guild, Quota Club, and the Monrovia YMCA.

In 2007, Caring Funeral Service, also a family owned group of funeral homes, purchased Douglass & Zook Mortuary. They are working very hard to continue the tradition of personal service that the Douglass and Zook families have done for many years. In June 2009, they added the name Douglass & Zook Chapel of Remembrance Funeral Home.
